IoW Day5
Thats strange, I was reading my paper, looked up and Freshwater Bay has dissapeared.
From the hotel patio I can’t see as fasr as the lifeboat station – fog has rolled off the coast and blanketed the whole area.
IoW Day5
Well, I’ve checked out of the hotel, and I’m sitting in the bay trying to read a newspaper.
my room top right, ooops forgot to close the door
The day was slightly spoiled this morning when my usual breakfast table overlooking the coast was already taken by someone else. There was a lot of waiting, and I was told that this wasn’t my table anyway even though I was shown to it on the first morning and used it for every other day. I felt a bit disgruntled when I was given an alternative table facing the wall – I felt like a naughty school boy!
Not sure what to do today, the ferry back isn’t until 16:30…
IoW Day4
Arrived back at the hotel about 6pm, it was still warm so I spent the rest of the evening having a kip on the balcony, and chatting with friends on the phone.
IoW Day4
Arrived in Ryde and got some nice shots of the hovercraft – a British invention you know!
IoW Day4
Stopped over at a couple of bays on my way to Sandown – the one below is Compton Bay (I think)…
Sandown is very tourist friendly, sand beeches plenty of hotels, very different to West Wight which I prefer.
I’ll be getting something to eat in a bit before my next trip – not sure if I will continue into Ryde or not.
IoW Day4
Had a really restful night, woke up this morning to a great sunny day – the tide was in, and after a short walk along the bay after breakfast I just had to return to get my camera…
Still not quite sure what I’m going to do today; I’m quite enjoying not doing anything.
IoW Day3
Stopped over at a shop called “Oasis” that stock Bali crafts (amoung other things), found myself a Dragon sculpture. I’ve alway been fasinated by them and in the Chinese Zodiac my birth year makes me a “Dragon”.
Wikipedia says this about people born in the year of the Dragon;

Stopped over at “Cafe Verdi” at Fort Victoria to have a cheese omellete; sitting outside is nice with the coastal waters lapping up against the small beech, but every now and again a waft of sewage (I think) snaps me back to reality…
IoW Day3
Weather is overcast but dry, so I spent a lazy morning sitting on the balcony.
Todays first excursion is to Fort Victoria near Yarmouth. It has a number of attractions including;
- Underwater Archaeology
- Marine Aquarium
- Planetarium
- Model Railway
Out of the four "Attractions" – I use the term loosely I found the Aquarium the most enjoyable..
IoW Day2
Well the weather is still dry; the beech is still being rocked by the sea and the moon is out to play…
