weekend post

Well, it’s been a fun week in my new job – nailing the lid shut on the Bridge, and prepping for the continuation of the AV rollout. I’m meeting Deano on Monday for the handover, and to go out for lunch – haven’t seen him for a month.

Mum is back home but only as a temporarily, she’s got a bit of colour but she’s still very weak. She has an appointment with a specialist next week, who was proposing the operation on her heart (again) but after some tests they decided that she wasn’t currently strong enough for surgery.

Myself? I’m suffering a bit with some pain in my left ankle (possibly connected with my psyrosis), and my right wrist. I think the problem with my wrist is RSI, although the Doc beleives it to be a inflamed tendon, I’ve been on 1,200 mg a day of Nurofen but it has had little effect. I’m planning to see him again this week…

That’s about it for the time being; any news and I’ll post something..

Sunday post

Guess what? Back into the routine – a post from Starbucks in Sutton.

Surprisingly I didn’t come across any SB’s during my holiday – I’m guessing it’s because I stayed out of the mainstream shopping areas such as Ryde, Cowes and Newport. Mind you I did enjoy the family run tea and coffee houses although the size of the portions were a lot smaller.

I’m sorry to be back, and if not a little worried about the weeks ahead; with the team broken up at work I’m unsure what I’ll be going back to! It will only be a further week before the Bridge is closed and I move into a new team. I’m quite sad as I’ve bult up some really good relationships with a lot of the guys, and they have helped me through some serious issues over the past year. The new team I’m going into will be quite fragmented so I’ll think most of the time I’ll be on my own which will be strange.

Thu post

Well, what an eventful day it was yesterday; Mum feeling seriously under the weather finally decided to visit the doctors after much discussion. The doctor asked she be taken to casulty. Initial investigations suggested that she was aneamic, and they gave her 2 pints of blood immediately, they’ve kept her in to perform a number of tests.

I’m away again from Sunday and my happier that the have her in the hospital getting the care and attention she needs.

I won’t bother to tell you where exactly were I am as regular readers will know; just to say I’m in Kingston.

Free lunch – for a price

Hey, thumbs up for TGI Fridays (sort of)… ordered my starter and main course, and half way through my starter the main course arrived! Needless to say, they decided to put it to one side for me..

Finished my rather large starter and the ribs turned up, after my first bite it was evident that the poor little guys had been carbonised!

The very polite waiteress appologiesed and offered to get a replacement, under normal conditions I would of said yes, but I was on a tight schedule with the movie start time approaching fast, so I added more sauce and buckled down to finish it.

Time came to pay and I asked if the drinks could be free, the answer was no, because they had already refunded me the cost of all the food, without even asking! Nice one – sort of…

Just settling down in the Gallery with my complementary “Celebrations”, Nachos, muffins and coffee (in a cup and saucer!) and the price of the ticket was cheaper than the Vue cinema in Croydon – sweet…

Tuesday, day2

Cool, there’s nothing like feeling wanted – had a couple of calls from the office today sorting out some queries, so I’m going to book a couple of hours overtime.

Been at Bluewater today, nothing much has changed. Bought myself iLife v8 and iWorks v8 for my iMac – initial reviews look good and in iPhoto they seem to have fixed my biggest issue – organising photos! Hopefully the new “events” function will help me out.

Also treated myself to a new mouse for my laptop it’s called a Mogo mouse. It’s bluetooth, and collapses down to fit into the PC slot, where it also gets charged – how cool is that?

Just at TGI Fridays having some chicken and ribs before going into see a film “posh” Gallery seats again :)

Monday…

Back in Starbucks having a cold drink trying to block out the screaming kids behind me…

My 1st day of my holidays – currently only rough plans for the 1st week; back to Isle of Wight next week.

Plan to visit Bluewater sometime this week to see if the Apple store has any of the new software (iWorks & iLife) plus to check out the new iMac keyboards.

Had some ideas for new sites, plus services… I’m going to have a chat to Starbucks in the States to see if they have considered a way of gifting coffee’s to their card via a user installable widget on personal webpages.

Mail me if you want more information..

It’s a mini adventure – remixed…

Miniclubman

The MINI family is getting a new big brother. The MINI Clubman ($TBA) retains the trademark styling and agile handling, but gains new proportions, split-rear doors and a passenger-side suicide door. The 5-door Clubman has 9.45 more inches of body length and a wheelbase that’s extended by 3.15 inches, offering more leg and storage room. The Clubman will go on sale in the U.S. early next year with two models — the MINI Cooper Clubman (120-hp, 1.6-litre 4-cylinder) and the MINI Cooper S Clubman (175-hp, 1.6-litre 4-cylinder with twin-scroll turbocharger).

Aprilia RSV1000

Helped Mark pick up his new bike today, an Aprilia RSV1000 v-twin; I’m very.. very jealous. Followed him back on the motorway – you could tell that the bike wasn’t struggling at all even at 70+

Going for some grub at the local Tex Mex and then off to see The Simpsons movie… Sweet!
