Synopsis: It’s a send-up of inflated, corpulent, grandiose Hollywood: its more-is-better philosophy; the super-sized egos of its actors and directors and executives; the imperialism of its production shoots.

A send-up rather than a satire, it’s not half as savage as it appears and perhaps even ought to be. That’s no surprise. After all, its cast list, including Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black and Tom Cruise, is itself super-sized. These are guys who have done well from Hollywood. They’re not going to bite the hand that feeds them.

Ben Stiller, directing his first feature since Zoolander (2001) from a script he co-wrote with Justin Theroux and Etan Cohen, plays action hero Tugg Speedman whose career is in decline.  (Source: Telegraph.co.uk)

Conclusion: Yeah, very funny (in places). Check out the movie mogul – amazing! Enjoyed it a lot more than “Pineapple Express”.

Synopsis: Lazy court-process clerk and stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city’s most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him–and it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they’re not suffering from weed-fuelled paranoia: incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.

Conclusion: Of course it had its good bits and the bad bits, but in my opinion wait for the DVD. To be honest I think you needed to be doped up to enjoy the film on its “many” levels; 6/10

Synopsis: When a Russian mobster sets up a real estate scam that generates millions of pounds, various members of London’s criminal underworld pursue their share of the fortune. Various shady characters, including Mr One-Two, Stella the accountant, and Johnny Quid, a druggie rock-star, try to claim their slice…

Conclusion: Well, if you like “Snatch” and “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” then this is the movie for you; the seedy underbelly of London’s gangster cult. Personally I felt it had is great parts and it’s sloooow parts, but a good plot that keeps you guessing..

Synopsis: The mythical world starts a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth, so as Hellboy and his team returns they must save the world from the rebellious creatures. Now, as the creatures who inhabit the spiritual realm gear-up for an all out attack on the human plane, the only one capable of saving the Earth is a tough-talking hellspawn rejected by both worlds. Synopsis: Bruce Wayne/Batman (Christian Bale) continues to eliminate crime in Gotham City with the help of Lt. Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). The Dark Knight wants to finally get rid of organized crime for good and be free of their corruption. Batman soon finds that a new psychopathic mastermind known as the Joker (Heath Ledger) has taken over organized crime. After the fall of Carmine Falcone, the remaining crime bosses try to pick up the pieces. However, the Joker is killing them off one by one. The Joker's plan is to terrify the citizens and throw the city into chaos, and then kill Batman. Batman takes the fight with the Joker personal, which makes him confront his own beliefs. The Joker is the most dangerous criminal that Batman has encountered, and he will need all his strength and vigilance to defeat him.

The Mummy III: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Synopsis: Doomed by a double-crossing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh) to spend eternity in suspended animation, China's ruthless Dragon Emperor and his 10,000 warriors have lain forgotten for eons, entombed in clay as a vast, silent terra cotta army. But when dashing adventurer Alex O'Connell is tricked into awakening the ruler from eternal slumber, the reckless young archaeologist must seek the help of the only people who know more than he does about taking down the undead: his parents.

Disney/Pixars: Wall-e

Synopsis: In a distant, but not so unrealistic future, where mankind has abandoned earth because it has become covered with trash from products sold by the powerful multi-national Buy N Large corporation, WALL-E, a garbage collecting robot has been left to clean up the mess. Mesmerized with trinkets of earth's history and show tunes, WALL-E is alone on Earth except for a sprightly pet cockroach.

One day, Eve, a sleek (and dangerous) reconnaissance robot, is sent to earth to find proof that life is once again sustainable. WALL-E falls in love with Eve. WALL-E rescues Eve from a dust storm and shows her a living plant he found amongst the rubble. Consistent with her "directive" Eve takes the plant and automatically enters a deactivated state except for a blinking green beacon. WALL-E, doesn't understand what has happened to his new friend, but true to his love, he protects her from wind, rain, and lightening, even as she is unresponsive. One day a massive ship comes to reclaim Eve, but WALL-E, out of love or loneliness hitches a ride on the outside of the ship to rescue Eve.

The ship arrives back at a large space cruise ship, which is carrying all of the humans who evacuated earth 700 years earlier. The people of earth ride around this space resort on hovering chairs which give them a constant feed of TV and video chatting. They drink all of their meals through a straw out of laziness and/or bone loss, and are all so fat that they can barely move. When the auto-pilot computer, acting on hastily given instructions sent many centuries before, tries to prevent the people of earth from returning, by stealing the plant, WALL-E, Eve, the portly captain, and a band of broken robots stage a mutiny.

**UPDATE; Yeah a funny movie, and certainly a different twist on the regular superhero movie – Wow! certainly a HUGE! twist in the middle of the film I didn’t see that coming.

It's a spoof a number of recent movies such as Spiderman, Fantastic Four and X-Men. Leslie Neilson stars in the roll as our heros father; our hero like Superman gets his powers after being bitten by a radio active dragonfly…

Tony flies to Afghanistan to demonstrate a new weapons test to the United States Air Force. On his way back to his plane, his convoy is attacked by terrorists, and Tony is wounded by a Stark Industries missile. Tony is captured and held hostage in a cave with Yinsen (Shaun Toub), a doctor who saves his life. The terrorists force Tony and Yinsen to reproduce the new destructive Jericho missile Tony was demonstrating from parts of other weapons. Instead, Tony decides to build a suit of armor with Yinsen’s help. The suit gives Tony the strength and protection to be able to escape the terrorists.

Back in America, Tony builds a better suit of armor which gives him superhuman strength with the ability to fly. With the help of his personal assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Air Force Lieut. Colonel Jim Rhodes (Terrence Howard), Tony vows to protect the world as Iron Man. I’m a little surprised to admit it, but Iron Man delivers.  Basically taking place in modern day, Stark (played with his usual wit by Robert Downey Jr.) is captured in Afghanistan and forced to realize his business of weaponry has a dangerous human side.  The story plays out with perfect rhythm and believability so that when the Iron Man first takes flight; you are fully invested and excited for the character.  It’s been a while since a comic book movie has been thrilling and genuinely funny at the same time, so this film was a refreshing adventure. 

The supporting roles are well played by Jeff Bridges (Obadiah) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), although they seem more cartoonish than the portrayal of Stark.  I will say that I’m starting to think Stan Lee has a thing for redheads and I love it!

Conclusion: You know, I wish there were more films like this. Through each of Jason Bourne’s missions, they always get better. The chases were amazing as were the fights. I’m always amazed at the characters ingenuity for using common items to get the desired results. I would recommend this film to anyone; and I’ll be in the line for the boxed set.
