Doing the British thing
… Yes, I’m queuing.
I’m at the Apple store in Kingston where I’m waiting for a 16GB Black iPhone.
There is 4 people in front of me, apparently it takes about 20mins to do the credit check for O2 (yawn) – it’s like they’re doing us a favour!
Jezz, you should be able to complete this online at home either before or after you’ve got the phone.
iPod Touch
Well, a busy day; mainly getting postal stuff to send some eBay sales to their new owners, and I always forget to add package costs to the final value – D’oh!
Want to pop into Sutton on Sunday to see if I can track down a new CD (MOS: The Rush), wasn’t going to pay £15 for it in Zavvi.
Give you an update later…
I don’t understand…
… and it bugs me.
Well those who know me know I understand how technology works, or the principles, but this one has me stumped.
Apple released the same applications (almost) for the iPod Touch that are on the iPhone. Here's the crunch, on Google Maps on both the iPhone and Touch is a "Locate me" button which on the iPhone checks it's nearest mobile cell and then shows where you are on a map; no problem – I understand how this works. On the Touch it works equally well although it only has WIFI access. When I tried it at home I though it was doing something sneaky like checking the contacts to see where my home was, but on the way to work I attached to a number of unsecured WIFI AP's and still it was able to find me. I'm in Croydon at the moment connected to "theCloud.net" and it correctly identified my location. The freaky thing is it's acurate down to 2-300yrds better than the mobile cell method!
Help me figure this out, answers on a postcard please….
Saw it, Surfed it, Bought it…
Amazing really.
Heard Mark Ronson’s new album on the tv, found it on iTunes online, previewed it, bought it and downloaded it on my iPod; computer’s powered off in the other room…
Posted this little story on my blog using the same iPod, cool or what?
iPhone, ready or not.
Apple are releasing the iPhone in the States in a couple of days, expect to see it featured quite a lot in the news. It is very swish, and it really is very different to anything else on the market. It's true there are a few imitations such as the "Prada", and the new "HTC Touch" but it's only skin deep. The iPhone runs Apples OS X operating system – tweaked.
If you want to see the features check out this video, it's 20 minutes but I've watched it and it's very interesting.

Bitter taste for Apple?
Tables have turned, to continue DELL’s "I’m a PC.." videos Laurie McGuinness has written and directs 4 videos – true…
Big surprise..

Had my Apple training, yes it is in the showroom and I was the only one there!
It turned out to be a more of a 1-2-1 customised training with two workshops squished into one (iMOVIE and iDVD). My trainer Alex (not shown) was very competent and knew his products and was able to answer all my questions and show examples.
I was very happy with the training, although a group training maybe more difficult. Overal I would recommend the workshops, but I cannot comment on one of the the true workshops, I was told by Alex that this closely represented what could be expected from one of their ProCare sittings.
Apple Workshop
I feel a little disappointment approachng, the workshop involves standing/sitting around a iMac in the shop. Oh well, it starts in 5mins I’ll let you know.
