Bit of a mix today, visited Blaise Castle House located within some amazing grounds – its now owned by Bristol Council (wonder if I got on the waiting list I could live there?).
Inside the rooms are divided into a number of different collections including; Victorian toys and clothes – those gentleman waistcoats were very snazzy!
Moving into a different room was a typical Victorian classroom. What really amazed me (although those that know me may not be surprised) I remember those types of desks from when I was at school. The lift tops with a place for your books inside, admittedly we never used the inkwells in my time but its amazing to know how old the desks really were!
The picture room, funny enough has many wonderful pictures!
… and an amazing domed ceiling.
Up to the first floor to some more exhibits, Victorian clothing and some quite unique kitchen appliances from the late 1800’s and 1900’s
From Blaise it was a forty minute drive to Wookey Hole Caves. Apparently very popular with both TV & Film, to mention a few; Dr Who, League of Gentlemen and Robin of Sherwood.
The caves had a guide, unlike the Cheddar Gorge where you had a talking headset and you could take your time this felt a little hurried, although the guide appeared very knowledgeable and quite humorous.
Outside the caves were a number of other attractions, including of course the gardens…
… the gorilla (I couldn’t work out the connection either)…
… Dinosaur Valley…
… don’t even ask…
… to a circus attraction…
… with two headed cats among other artefacts…
… finally I had my fortune taken by this fair automaton…
… this is what she wrote; those who know me might agree – spooky…
