Today’s adventure went a little flat, I should have done my research first of course!
My first visit was to the Avon Valley Railway; a steam railway of course, but what I would have found out if I’d checked the timetable would be that there was no action today! A little disappointing to say the least, but my own fault – maybe next year.
With the extra time I now had I decided to head further East and onto Bath. I arrived about 2pm so there wasn’t much time to see everything so I went to find possibly the most most famous landmark; The Roman Baths.
Walked past this church (I think) at the junction of Northgate Street and Walcot Loop Street but can#t find out what its called…
The place below is Bristol Cathedral (that I do know!)…
… which is next to the Roman Baths…
… I wont bore you with all the history, that of course is Wikipedia’s job, so just enjoy the pictures…
… how the baths looked…
… the ruins below the streets of modern Bath…
… this is the overflow from the spring with raises 1,170,000 litres each day at a steady 46 degrees C, it was plenty warm in there!
… the drain form the surplus water goes into the river…
