Bristol day1: Arrival at the penthouse

Well, I’ve arrived once again in Bristol. This time rather than staying at a hotel I thought I’d stay in a penthouse apartment! I’ll have to say its very nice; on the 7th floor with a full length veranda/balcony where you can see the SS Great Britain, Millennium Square and the Cathedral.

The apartment itself is owned by Luxury Rooms Bristol. I’ve met Adrian, one of the owners of the company – nice chap, very helpful. I was a little perplexed by the layout of the apartment.

From the pictures sent (below) it looks great, and it is! valued at £500k the original configuration is a 2 bedroom apartment with dining area, full kitchen and living area…

… but the strange thing is this; internally all doors within the hallway now have locks, internally the apartment has been divided into two. ‘A’ apartment has access to Living/dining, kitchen and terrace above. To access the bedroom and bathroom you need to go outside onto the terrace through the outside bedroom door and into the en-suite. The ‘B’ apartment (I assume) has a single bedroom with another en-suite and smaller terrace.

The hall way is common to the both ‘A’ and ‘B’, not such a big issue to some I guess, but sharing ‘living’ space with an unknown stranger is a little ‘odd’ for myself. To get a drink at 3am (for example) would be leaving bedroom onto the terrace/balcony, unlock the kitchen door that leads onto the terrace, get your drink and return locking the doors in turn… Obviously you could take the risk and use the common hallway and hope you don’t bump into a stranger, could be scary to all involved! Note sure how Health & Safety, Insurance or Fire Regulations see this though…

Needless to say its a great place (excusing the little eccentricities)…  I’ll report back as the experience unfolds.

Sorry about the blurry picture below, but it was nice to have dinner outside with the Cathedral in the distance.
