Dear readers, you will remember that I was enjoying the new room at Disney Newport Bay Club hotel yesterday; well last night at 3am the balcony door opened and refused to close! Lucky it wasn’t wet of cold but after 20 minutes of trying to stop it banging on the stop, I just jammed it open with a chair for the rest of the night – needless to say the interruption ruined my sleep for the rest of the night and I woke up like a bear with a sore head.
Needless to say the “cast members” were as always very helpful and fixed the door around 8am; at which point I went back sleep.
I packed again and distributed my various belongings with the concierge for a half day in the Disneyland Park. I must admit the cast members are great in the hotel, although in my opinion my whole hotel experience with Disney was let down by the physical hotel – however grand it looked.
Just for a change I walked the other way around the man made Lake Disney, checking out some of the other hotels en’ route
I have to admit its a very impressive setup…
Back inside the park I was greeted by Minnie Mouse; on a Luv train…
… a bit further down Main Street USA, I bumped into Pooh Bear – I’m a little worried that he’s loosing weight – what do you think?
Of course no trip to Frontierland would be complete with a ride on the a. The Steam Train (done that), and b. The Paddle Steamer…
We gently paddled our way around the Lake, getting slowly broiled by the steam from the chimneys – it was a relaxing and pour cleansing experience. We had a change to see Big Thunder Railway from all the way round; remember I said it was on the island?
… finally back round to the Phantom Manor…
The remainder of the day was visiting all the favourite attractions again, including Space Mountain…
… and others…
.. and to partake in some live action (I decided not to take up Stitch’s offer to dance)…
Then it was time to say goodbye to Disneyland and continue my journey into central Paris.
I arrived in Paris, in a classy hotel (Sofitel) just along from the Arc de Triomphe about 5pm. I’ve used the hotel before around 8 years ago for business, I was warmly welcomed and they still had my details on record so there was no filling out paperwork just a key card and an offer to take the luggage to the room.
The room is excellent; and there is nothing I could have wanted; complementary robe, slippers, TV, CD player, umbrella, teddy bear, cordless phone, streaming TV/internet, free WIFI and the list goes on…
Looking up/down the road from the balcony…
I had a walk down the Avenue des Champs-Elysées here looking back towards the Arc de Triomple
