At around 12:30am I was woken up by the refuse collection below the room I was staying in – not a quick five minutes, but I can only assume some unhappy “cast member” taking it out on the empty bottles. I much have counted at least 20 glass bottles being thrown into refuse, that interspersed with the lift next door delivering people; a thankless task, but still noisy.
The following morning, after inspecting the HUGE queue for breakfast, to be honest I’ve seen smaller queues within the park! I decided to forgo the most important meal of the day and see what can be done about my room.
I visited the Admiral desk (for preferred guests) and went through the list of issues;
- Air Conditioning; very poor – set it to 10 degrees but it keep the room at a less than comfortable 23 degrees.
- The noise; when I booked my room I requested a quiet room, because the AC was less than useful I had to have the windows open – the noise from the deliveries and collections of all hours for the hotel where unbearable even on the 8th floor. The lift next door to my room sprung into action at random intervals throughout the day and night.
The “cast member” at the desk was very understanding but he highlighted that I’d meant to be staying in a standard room and they had “upgraded me”, I stopped myself enquiring what level of comfort and noise a standard room resident would need to endure fearing that the sarcasm maybe lose in translation.
The gentlemen offered me another room, asking that I packed (again) and left my case in the room and “they would take care of everything” – reassured I packed, and left for the Disneyland Park.
With all the fuss or re-packing (for a 3 night visit) I forgot to put on the sun cream; fatal mistake on this one of the hottest days. Needless to say after it occurred that I’d forgot (probably way too late) I kept in the shade as much as I could, effects to be reported later.
Some pictures from the day; you’ll notice I enjoy the architecture of the Discoveryland – very Joules Vern.

(above, the Disneyland Hotel – actually on the gates of the park)
Main Street looking towards Sleeping Beauty Castle
One of my favourites; Space Mountain; Mission 2
You get shot very fast out of a cannon and into space..
Nemo’s Nautilus
Aye… another favourite…
Big Thunder Mountain – AWESOME! The main part of the rollercoaster is on the island surrounded by water, deep enough for the paddle steamer! You get on the train at the “mainland” and once you start you’re go straight underground; deep under the water and up onto the island – one of the longest rides I’ve been on – loved it.

Phantom Manor, ghost train which is quite surprising – it seems a lot of the rides are deep underground…
7pm, and they throw you out of the parks…
Looking at Disney Village across the lake, a place for restaurants shops and nightclubs; great place to finish the day.
I returned to the hotel, and picked up the new key card for my room, this time on the 6th floor – with a balcony, although still not looking out at the lake. I searched the room, and something was missing!
The one thing they told me not to worry about! My suitcase was missing!
I returned to the Admiral Reception and they went off in search of my case – after around 10mins they returned to say they were still looking for it; I was worried now as I was going into Paris later that week…
Time passed and they finally located my case thankfully, I’m unpacked again now and a lot more relaxed, if not a little crisped and burnt around the edges… Cant wait for tomorrow…
