IoW Day11: Island-Wide

Weather was certainly changeable today; early wet and windy, nothing like yesterday! Wrapped up warm, I ventured out into the chilly/breezy outside.

Had a couple of tasks to perform, so stopped into Newport to see VW & get a in-car power adaptor for my 3G Access Point (what a geek). I was somewhat surprised to get stuck in a traffic jam, 15 minutes to travel 300yrds! it was even worse than at home…

Travelling North, I headed into Cowes; for some reason all the way I kept saying “Moo” but in different voices; must be may age… ha-ha

Cowes can only be described as “twee”, a quaint High Street crammed full of shops selling nautical items; such as those long sleeved polo/ruby shirts, life jackets more shirts, and then… same again.

With only an hour on the parking meter (yes my tourist parking permit had expired), I was off again – around the bottom of Newport and to “The Downs”. There I stumbled upon the “Garlic Farm” shop. Interesting; plenty of chutneys, mustards, seaside rock all including the ingredient of garlic. I was glad that they had tasters out, I picked up some Garlic Rock for the office and some Honey & Garlic spread (yum).

I’m not sure if they feed the cows garlic or they needed a special breed of cows to aid the growth of the garlic but I hadn’t seen these beasties for quite a long time, 1st time on the island.

From the Garlic Farm, I travelled south toward Ventnor to meet up with a fellow Blogger/Tweeter Simon Perry and his family. A very smart individual that’s lived on the island for quite a while as has asked me to write a guest post for the Ventnor Blog (I’m honoured).

Ventnor Esplanade itself is going through some big changes; a new workshop has almost been completed, bit of a blot on the landscape to be honest. The spring/waterfall enjoyed by the Victorian’s is also having a spruce up – as you can see it’s a little dry at the moment.

On the way home I was so lucky to experience this sunset, I only hope the camera captured its beauty and you’re able to draw inspiration from the image.
