The weather looked promising early morning at 7:30am, streaming through the slit in the curtain; with bleary vision I squinted through the gap and was greeted by a perfect morning, I was so overcome by the experience I returned to bed for another hour!
I spent the morning reviewing the papers sitting on my rooms balcony, I had visited a majority of the attractions the island had to offer so really my time was my own. As the day progressed the climate only improved – with renewed confidence in the weather I booked a further few days in the hotel returning to the mainland on Thursday morning.
With an unnatural enthusiasm (for me at least), I ventured along the beech and up onto the cliffs. Now you have to understand dear reader that I don’t appreciate heights so you’ll have to excuse some of the wimpy shots.
At this point I decided it was safer to have a lay down away from the cliff edge for an hour or so just to take it all in. The breeze was warm, the sun bright – possibly one of the best days I’d had on the island. With only the Seagulls keeping me awake I watched the ramblers pass by, and the more fearless lean over the cliff edge to take pictures.
But with renewed confidence I was able to get a bit closer to the drop and get some better pictures. I’m sure the gull in the picture was a little worried as I wobbled at the cliff top taking the picture.
I really can’t believe how blue and how clear the water was, it was starting to look like a Mediterranean seascape, very unlike other UK resorts.
On my way back to the hotel, I found Julian; the waiter that had been looking after me for the whole visit. He’s a really talented individual as you can see; he tells me he’s over here from France to practice his English before starting a computer course in September, I can only wish him good luck in whatever he does, its a tough world out there but I have confidence he’ll succeed in whatever he does.
