Doing the British thing
… Yes, I’m queuing.
I’m at the Apple store in Kingston where I’m waiting for a 16GB Black iPhone.
There is 4 people in front of me, apparently it takes about 20mins to do the credit check for O2 (yawn) – it’s like they’re doing us a favour!
Jezz, you should be able to complete this online at home either before or after you’ve got the phone.
Not a good start…
Just had a call from the garage to say they’ve misplaced my car keys and can’t find them – had to drop down my spare set after checking the loan car…
I really hope they find them; the guy remembers me putting them on his desk but now he can’t find them.

Sunday post
(YAWN!) Apple is this becoming a habit; have a huge spin on the latest must have gadget and then screw up it’s big day globally.
Yes, the iPhone 3G was released on Friday; and promptly sold out – good marketing, I can see it now "iPhone sold out on 1st day"; if they allocated more than a few at each shop it wouldn’t!.
Of course those who were promised a delivery on the day, were let down a friend of mine was sent a text at 5pm on Thursday to say there was no stock.
Those who managed to get hold of them were once again let down by Apple as the servers that activated the iPhone’s (via iTunes) failed – repeatedly! Once they were up again people were waiting anything between 20 and 40 minutes while the iPhone waited to be activated in-store (new policy – nice one Apple).
Overall it was a global fiasco, bringing disappointed together united and disgruntled.
Myself? Yeah I like was I saw, but I’ll be waiting for the next delivery and moving from Orange to O2.
I’ve upgraded my iPod Touch with v2 of the firmware, and I’m impressed – there are a good selection of Apps, if not a little unstable. My Touch rebooted/crashed about 5 times yesterday as I tried out a number of apps. One thing I have noticed though is the battery life – it seems to of halved which isn’t good. Another strange occurrence I don’t know if its the new v2 software or the new iTunes v7 but every time I dock it insists on doing a full backup which takes about 5 minutes each time – very frustrating!
Well it’s holiday time for me 1st week at home; having some work done on the car, 2nd week back to Isle of Wight, so keep up with the posts guys…

Movie time
Just sitting down for my 1st movie of the day…
16:30 Take 1; WANTED
Secret assassins that’s are prepared to kill one to save thousands…
**UPDATE; what a great movie, lots of action – still can’t figure out why it was a cert 18 though.
18:40 Take 2; HANCOCK
An unusual story of a superhero that’s, well isn’t that ready to serve humanity…
**UPDATE; Yeah a funny movie, and certainly a different twist on the regular superhero movie – Wow! certainly a HUGE! twist in the middle of the film I didn’t see that coming.

Sad note
I’m sorry to note that we lost a family member on Wednesday; Anne Kent MBE died in hospital on the 2nd July 2008 leaving two sons John and Peter. Her funeral will take place this coming Thursday.
I don’t really think it’s sunk in for Mum as the oldest out of 2 boys, and 3 girls only the yongest and my Mum remain of the family.
Of course its a sad time for the family, but I prefer not to dwell on the last moments, but look back and enjoy the memories when we were all together as one big family.
Productive Day!
It’s nice when you get everything done – went to see Lynne at ACM, the meeting was great! Guy came to replace the windscreen of the Beetle early – check! Took 4 toner carts for recycling to the post office – check, returned the ASUS without any unpleasantness – check!
Need to review my task list from the meeting; looks good though.
Tuesday SB
Went to see ACM, their web site is coming along nicely and I needed to check to see everything was going well. Now ready to populate the pages with some real text now.
I returned the EEE PC today "not fit for purpose" stated 12GB HDs but really had two drives 4+8GB separate drives, running XP in 4GB is hopeless, applied SP’s and then ran out of space!
Micro Anvika refused that’s the specification on their site were misleading, even though the Linux version clearly describes separate drives. Come on guys, if it stated a 4GB drive and a 8GB drive I wouldn’t of bought it!
They offered a refund less 15% restocking fee, but fortunately there was a problem with the webcam as well which means I may get a full refund – they are currently rebuilding the ASUS (I have done it many times) to see if it will fix the problem; I don’t think it will myself.
** UPDATE
Well after they tried to rebuild the ASUS with the system restore DVD, they only confirmed there was a problem with the webcam – so I got a full refund – YAY!
