Sat SB
Routines are hard to break, like this one; a weekly update of what I’ve been up to, and of course a Starbucks.
Last week was productive building some servers and doing learning as you go… for the UN.
So what for the week ahead? who knows.
Family are doing well, Mum is getting stronger, although she has her setbacks from time to time. I also had my very first nose bleed today, quite messy but I got it sorted with the aid of a cold beer (holding it on my nose, not drinking it)..
Escaped…
What no SB post?
Yeah I know spoilt the weekend without a picture of a SB Latte or Frappuccino – but hey maybe two next time…
What have I been up to? Been on standby for Sat/Sun and Mon – one client is doing a major patching session and I’m here like some sort of superhero to fix it all if it goes “tits-up” which it did yesterday. So 1100 yesterday I was off to the datacenter CDROM’s clutched in hands – got back at 2130, but everyone happy.
Today I have some patching to do myself; just have to wait until the other guys have finished – yawn!

SB & Design
Spent the afternoon in SB’s going through some of the design for ACM’s website; it’s a bit noisey but I think I’ve pulled everything together.
First time I’ve used this CMS so the design is going to gew tricky 1st time around; all good to learn. For future smaller CMS projects I may have discovered another system…
Strawberry fest…
Been a busy week, especially on Friday – was working late on a server in Docklands.
Mum’s progressing well, if plans work out she’ll be coming out on Tuesday.
My physio is going well the exercises seem to be working for the last couple of mornings I haven’t had the bad pains in my wrist…
Sunday post
I enjoy Sunday mornings, chilling doing a bit of surfing – well today, quite a lot! I love my new Sony laptop the battery life is amazing. I’d been surfing (mainly you tube) for a good 3 hours, and I check the battery level and it still had almost another 3 hours of life in it! Amazing…
I mentioned yesterday about the warm weather and change in wardrobe; but as I sit here is SB’s AC’d shop my thoughts are frequently interrupted by the noise and chatter of the the frappacino maker (blender)…
Tomorrow it’s my first visit to the physio for my wrist and forearm, wondering whats gonna happen there. I’ll let you know…
Warming up…
You can tell it’s warm even from the air conditioned bliss from within the shops; people have opened their summer wardrobe.
there are white legs seemingly squinting at the exposure to the sun – it’s true, it won’t be like this for long as the exposure continues the whites will turn to red, and then finally brown.
Life is changing in the UK, even in the “sticks” it’s truely becoming more cosmopolitan, tables in the streets and multiple dialects and languages drift on the breeze.
Movie: IRON MAN
Sysnopsis: Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the CEO of Stark Industries which produces advance weapon systems for the U.S. military. Tony’s father started the company after WWII, and after his death Tony inherited the company, worth billions. Tony lives the life as a hard drinking, rich playboy ladies man, but he is also a genius who has invented many high-tech items for the company. Tony flies to Afghanistan to demonstrate a new weapons test to the United States Air Force. On his way back to his plane, his convoy is attacked by terrorists, and Tony is wounded by a Stark Industries missile. Tony is captured and held hostage in a cave with Yinsen (Shaun Toub), a doctor who saves his life. The terrorists force Tony and Yinsen to reproduce the new destructive Jericho missile Tony was demonstrating from parts of other weapons. Instead, Tony decides to build a suit of armor with Yinsen’s help. The suit gives Tony the strength and protection to be able to escape the terrorists.
Back in America, Tony builds a better suit of armor which gives him superhuman strength with the ability to fly. With the help of his personal assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Air Force Lieut. Colonel Jim Rhodes (Terrence Howard), Tony vows to protect the world as Iron Man. Conclusion (by www.howitshouldhaveended.com): Marvel’s latest comic book movie is about an incredibly rich and intelligent man that faces circumstances which lead him to become a man-made superhero. Move over Bruce Wayne, because Tony Stark has enough personality and punch to win this fight.
I’m a little surprised to admit it, but Iron Man delivers. Basically taking place in modern day, Stark (played with his usual wit by Robert Downey Jr.) is captured in Afghanistan and forced to realize his business of weaponry has a dangerous human side. The story plays out with perfect rhythm and believability so that when the Iron Man first takes flight; you are fully invested and excited for the character. It’s been a while since a comic book movie has been thrilling and genuinely funny at the same time, so this film was a refreshing adventure.
The supporting roles are well played by Jeff Bridges (Obadiah) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), although they seem more cartoonish than the portrayal of Stark. I will say that I’m starting to think Stan Lee has a thing for redheads and I love it!
Can’t be right?
What’s going on? Not only is it the weekend but it’s a bank holiday weekend and the weather is fantastic! I suppose it makes up for the snow in April!
Busy week last week, bain of my life AV still dragging on.
Mum is improving slowly, and they dont expect to release her for another 2 weeks. Good news is that they have moved her to another ward – its big bright and new I’m told; seeing her later…
Marvels latest comic blockbuster has been released of course it’s “Iron Man”, plan to see this over the weekend.
