Saturday SB post

Glad its the weekend – I was really looking forward to this coffee, last week was a real b!tch…

Looking forward to next week – not because of work, but we are having another poker night on Wednesday, probably our last.

Been musing about my writings lately, I’ve done some fiction, real-life and now I’m thinking of doing some tutorials or a screen play maybe?

Still unsure about which platform to adopt, Mac or PC. The Mac is good for somethings, but tools and applications are limited – MS Office on the Mac is about 4 years old’ although I have heard that MS plan to release a new ’2007-ish version soon. I’m planning to upgrade to the lastest version of Adobe CS, but still not sure to go with either Mac or PC.

In news, the Apple iPhone has been released in the States with mixed results. Although the phone itself is quite unique, there are a lot of standard functions you would expect to see on a phone that are missing, such as;

- photo messaging (MMS) – web browsing, but you can’t dowload or save anything. – no cut/paste facilities – not 3G – limited ringtones (can’t use music either) – cannot remove battery, like iPod…

Oh well, perhaps they’ll sort out all the issues before it ships to Europe.

Saturday post

Once again a post from SB, at least I’m consistant! But this time its from the new SB within the main atrium in the Whitgift Centre – sweet.

Returned the Nokia e61i today to be told he won’t be offering an exchange – only a refund ( was a bit of a shock). Apparently he’s already had 3 of the six he’s sold returned due to problems – phew! So the search is on again for the elusive e61i…

Really glad the week is over, probably one of the worst weeks (for everyone) for a long time.

iPhone, ready or not.

Apple are releasing the iPhone in the States in a couple of days, expect to see it featured quite a lot in the news. It is very swish, and it really is very different to anything else on the market. It's true there are a few imitations such as the "Prada", and the new "HTC Touch" but it's only skin deep. The iPhone runs Apples OS X operating system – tweaked.

If you want to see the features check out this video, it's 20 minutes but I've watched it and it's very interesting.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Silverposter

Synopsis: The enigmatic, intergalactic herald, The Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As the Silver Surfer races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of the Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost.

Conclusion: I’ve heard people say.. "the effects were cheap, spent all the money on the sufer", yeah I can see that at times, particulally with Reed on the dance floor – but hey do we go to the flicks for the effects or the story?

It was good in my opinion, the surfer charcter was played well, as was all the other characters – quite funny seeing Stan Lee playing himself this time. I really enjoyed the film, a lot more than Pirates last week… but as always, the choice is yours.

Sunday post

Damn, left it too late to get a haircut. They only take people up tp 3pm even though they close at 4:30. Oh well, next weekend or maybe during the week, they must have a barbar in LH somewhere!

Anyhow no SB’s today and still no Nokia e61i, hopefully it wuill be delivered Monday so I can pick it up on Tuesday morning.

Booking my next batch of holidays next week, going back to IoW for the second week, but this time going with the parents – I keep asking myself why, but the look on Mum’s face when I mentioned it was worth it.

Currently blogging from the Vue cinema in Purley Way, Croydon waiting for the new Fantastic 4 movie to start – brought my own food and drink this time… Hahaha, screw you capitalist bar-stewards.

Sunday Post

Sitting here in SB, good news it that Mum returns from hospital; we are still waiting for the results to see if the drugs have dixed the additional two leaky valves in her heart… I look forward to seeing her again after almost 2 weeks.

Did I mention I ordered a Nokia e61i Rob was so impressed with the e61 he bought a 61i himself… Just waiting for mine to be delivered, then my trusty readers you to can enjoy the pictures of my SB coffees (and other stuff) once more…

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Piratescaribbeanworldsend

Synopsis: Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) are allied with Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones’ locker, while the terrifying ghost ship, The Flying Dutchman and Davy Jones, under the control of the East India Trading Company, wreaks havoc across the Seven Seas. Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, they must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Chinese Pirate Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat). Now headed beyond the very ends of the earth, each must ultimately choose a side in a final, titanic battle, as not only their lives and fortunes, but the entire future of the freedom-loving Pirate way, hangs in the balance.

Conclusion: Meh! Ok, watching Johnny Depp camp it up was funny in the 1st, marginal on the 2nd – 3rd… yawn… There was plenty of action – lots of swash-buckling, and boy did it go on… and on… 2hrs 45mins it… went on… believe me you need a break half way through…
