Pack my bags and go…

Was told today that they intend to close the department I work in, and move it to Wales – and then quite possibily onto Bangalore..

Oh joy – over the next couple of days we’ve been told to think about what sort of job we want to do, and they would discuss it with us.

In my heart I’ve seen this coming for a long time, migration of support documents have been flowing to Wales for a long-long time, but nothing was ever flowing the other way – we were supposed to be able support the services for Wales in case of a failure at there end, but no information ever filtered through.

About a month ago, a report was requested to prove to senior management how expensive it would be to move the service/department I work in to Wales (and what a bad idea it was) – but I thought it the time it was only a rouse to get our buy-in and for the report to be created with minimum objection and maximum input.

Well we was also told that 10 people will be employeed in Wales to take on our work – resources we have been asking for ourselves for a long time..

Holiday – dashed…

Holiday - dashed...
Well, I was planning to go on holiday this week – away from home at least, but the weather put tide to that..

I had planned to stay in a hotel in Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight from Thurs to Sat, but the flrecast is rain, rain and then some more rain… Oh well..

I have a couple of more days, so I may venture down to the coast yet – even if its just for a drive.

The_devil_wears_prada

Synopsis: Andrea Sachs is a naive smalltown girl who, fresh out of college, lands a job at glamorous Runway Magazine as assistant to editor Miranda Priestly. What seems like a dream job quickly becomes a nightmare however, as Priestly is the boss from hell and the fashion industry turns out to be more cutthroat than Andrea could have possibly imagined.

Gosh, this is posh..
Here I am in the cinema – in the posh gallery seats, seperated from the oily rags by a velvet rope…

Get some free natchos, cream filled cakes, couple of muffins and a cup of coffee… Its all very nice.

Huge double seats with a fold up arm – like being at home really.. Sweet..

I hate Apple Stores…

Just been into the Apple store in Bluewater, why do all the shop assistants prance around with an over inflated air of self importance?

Walking around with their finger up their arse, heven forbid you mention you’re a pc user, as they inflate even further sucking all the oxygen from the locality.. And returning to their little “clicky” group of buddies at the “Genius Bar”.. Sure Apple makes good hardware but the software availablity is cr@p, and costly.. And for those swapping from pc to mac, including myself have invested a lot of software wich is pc only…

Still I enjoy telling them that I only want a Mac to put XP on as XP has better support for software and hardware.. “It just works..” as the advert goes – like hell it does, believe me!
