Ultimate Hacking PC Cracks 300 Wi-Fi Nets

A custom-build PC called the "Janus Project" can scan 300 WIRELESS NETWORKS simultaneously, capturing all the traffic and storing it on its hard drive. Builder Kyle Williams, of the Janus Wireless Security Research Group in Portland, Oregon, says the system can focus eight Wi-Fi cards on a single access point to break its WEP keys in less than five minutes. Captured data is automatically encrypted (hey, there are a lot of hackers out there) and the case itself is waterproof.

Ok Apple I'm impressed
Ok I have to admit I’m impressed with Apple’s online ordering…

I ordered a peronalised ipod 60GB player (laser inscribed) on tuesday afternoon on the web page, 48 hours later it was delivered by UPS all wrapped up and correctly inscribed… Very impressive!

So, anyone want to buy my 2GB white ipod nano, with cover and docking station?

Get one of these, allows you to short-cut the queues

Went to Thorpe Park today as the weather was good, and I forgot how much I enjoyed roller coasters and the overall feel of theme parks. Thorpe has a couple of new rides since I was last there – including "The Slammer", "RUSH", and new this year "Stealth" which is 205ft high, and does 0~80mph in 2.3 seconds (I went on it twice!!).

So here are some pictures; you can see more in Flickr.

Saturday Starbucks

With the long weekend approaching, and my holiday next week I’m trying to decide what to do. The weather forecast is rain and storms for most of the week which excludes my initial plans for visiting some theme parks out of the window..

I’m still thinking of upgrading my k-jam for the Orange SPV-3100, which is a dual camera 3G version. I think its a litlle bigger than the k-jam, but I think I can live with it. My heart is still with the Blackberry but currently their only Blackberry with a camera is still waiting for release.

I think I will go for it as I do miss the 3G speed, and I do like the full keyboard, plus I’m locked into a 1and1 exchange contract for the next 6 months, by the time the 12 month Orange contract expires there maybe something more intresting on the market…

Long awaited: Scanner Darkly

Scanner_darkly_poster

Synopsis: Richard Linklater’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s classic novel is a challenging, mind-bending experience that cautions about the dangers of excessive drug use as well as the government’s capacity to abuse and manipulate power. Using the same interpolated rotoscoping technique that Linklater employed in 2001′s WAKING LIFE, the film is an animated, trippy descent into one man’s unraveling mind. Set in the not-too-distant future where a new drug, substance D, has created an epidemic, A SCANNER DARKLY charts the mental unraveling of Bob Arctor (Keanu Reeves). Arctor is an undercover cop who has been assigned to track a group of individuals who include the hyper-intense Luckman (Woody Harrelson), the ultra-paranoid Freck (Rory Cochrane), and the beautiful Donna (Winona Ryder). As the film unfolds and Arctor finds himself abusing substance D in order to maintain his façade, his mind begins to spin out of control, to the point where he doesn’t know what’s real and what isn’t. Eventually, the truth comes out, leaving Arctor even more numbed. Linklater’s surprisingly faithful adaptation of Dick’s novel blends humor, drama, and Bob Sabiston’s striking animation to deliver a thought-provoking film that will leave viewers as dazed as the film’s protagonist.

Conclusion: Well, the the concept was strange. The whole movie was re-rendered into what I can only describe as a 100 minute Flash movie. The state of Arctor mind was reflected in the contiually changing perspectives, quite disorientating.

The story itself was quite strange and perplexing – but the visual effects complemented Arctor state of mind perfectly. Each of the 3 main characters were fascinating from Frek’s encounters with the bug, Luckman’s in-your-face hyper personality. Not for everyone so if you’re not sure wait for the DVD.

Cream with your coffee?

Cream with your coffee?
Well, the good news is mum is recovering well – going to see her tomorrow, she’s been up and walking around although they don’t believe she is ready to return home quite yet.

Had a look at the blackberry that Orange now sell, alas it doesn’t have a proper keyboard or a camera, so at the moment I don’t think its for me.

Mum’s fall: Update #2

Well, the update from Dad is that she’s settled in at the hospital – they put her in the geriatric ward; she’s not very happy with that!!I’m guessing its because she still isn’t steady on he feet.

They say she could be in there for a couple of weeks, but really its up to her, once she can get around by herself OK, she can come home..
