Yeah Right! Intro
Posted by martin newham in Video on July 17, 2006
| This is the intro to the skate video “Yeah Right!” by Girl/Chocolate. This is a slowmotion, up-close view of the skater’s boards while they do their tricks, set to an awesome background music. After the intro, it shows some of the best bits of the movie in fast-montage form, as well as the beginning of Brandon Beibel’s section, where he does a slam-dunk. Magic Board
Posted by martin newham in Video on July 17, 2006
| This is the “Magic Board” section of the skate video “Yeah Right!” by Girl/Chocolate. It shows a board that has a mind of its own, which is passed from skater, and on which are pulled some of the most awesome tricks of the video. Almost (if not all) Girl/Chocolate skaters have a cameo, and it is truly awesome to watch. A light R&B/hiphop song in the background fits perfectly with the tone. Worth a look, even if you’re not a skater. This file is personally created by me. | |
Wow, a really good WIRELESS AP
Posted by martin newham in Web/Tech on July 16, 2006
Wow, providing you don’t want any encryption, it does work out of the box. plugged the audio out into my speakers, i-tunes picked up the AP and I can stream music to wherever the speakers are..
Apple for once, this is not an overpriced all show product this is useful and works with Windows, MAC – well done.
What am I doing with mine? Well it’s extending the coverage of my existing wireless network (based on a Linksys AP), and streaming music.
It’s got multiple profiles within the unit, so you can take it on the road – plug it into a switch/hub at a friends or a hotel and go wireless almost instantly (you have to select the profile from an installed app of your Windows/Mac).
Cost? £80… good value, and an excellent way to extend your network or create a new one easily.
Invisible Board
Posted by martin newham in Video on July 16, 2006
| This is the "Invisible Board" section of the skate video "Yeah Right!" by Girl/Chocolate. The skaters were filmed skating on green boards, then the boards were edited out. It’s definitely one of the cooler portions of an all-around awesome movie. Even if you’re not a skater, you have to appreciate the cinematography, and just plain awesomeness. Amazing backgroud music as well. | |
Superman… Returns (again)
Posted by martin newham in Film on July 15, 2006
Synopsis: Having been absent from earth for several years, Superman (newcomer Brandon Routh) returns to the planet only to find that much has changed. His oldest adversary Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey) has dastardly plans for world domination, while former love Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth) has moved on with her life and even has a child of her own. As he battles to save the planet, the Man of Steel must also therefore embark on a journey of self-discovery and redemption.
Conclusion: Wow! I had a lot of expectations of this movie, as the movie started – I wondered to myself, am I in the wrong movie? The guy who did the credits at the start obviously wanted to do the intro for Star Wars! Flying through trenches down into an exhaust vent.. weird..
Overall the movie was very typical superhero flick; should I expect anything less? yes I guess I should, XMEN-3 had lots of twists and turns and Superman Returns although a good film had no real surprises.
Go and see it, but don’t expect too much from it.
Wired News: Park the Beamer by Bot

Driving your car into a cramped parking space can be a harrowing experience, but BMW says it has developed a robotic parking system to solve the problem. The luxury carmaker’s parking-assist technology will park your car for you as you stand outside and watch, according to BMW during the demo of a working prototype at its Munich headquarters this week. All you do is press down on a remote-control button and your Beamer parks itself.
I want one of these at home…

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Synopsis: A tale of adventure set during the 17th Century in the Caribbean Sea. For the roguish yet charming Captain Jack Sparrow, the crystalline waters of the Caribbean, like the high seas the world over, present a vast playground where adventure and mystery abound. But Jack’s idyllic life capsizes after his nemesis, the wily Captain Barbossa, steals his ship, the Black Pearl, and later attacks the town of Port Royal, kidnapping the Governor’s beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Swann. Elizabeth’s childhood friend, Will Turner, joins forces with Jack to commandeer the fastest ship in the British fleet, the HMS Interceptor, in a gallant attempt to rescue her and recapture the Black Pearl. The duo and their crew are pursued by Elizabeth’s betrothed, the debonair, ambitious Commodore Norrington, aboard the HMS dauntless. Unbeknownst to Will, there is a curse that has doomed Barbossa and his crew to live forever as the undead–when exposed to moonlight, they are exposed to living skeletons. The curse they carry can be broken, only if a once-plundered treasure is restored.
Conclusion:Captain Jack is back! – what a great film, although like the seas of nature it had it’s up’s and down’s – typically the action was high, fantastic effects and stunts. Humour is rife, and Johnny Depp camps up his potrayal of Capt. Jack as he tip-toes through some of the scenes – my favourite being the watermill section.. barrels of fun.. go see it you won’t be disapointed. Pt.3? guarenteed with the return of an "Old" friend!!!
