Screen 4: into the laundry..
Here we are once again at the Vue cinema in Croydon. Today I’m seeing "The Chronicles of Narnia".. More later.
Synopsis: A spectacular motion picture adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ beloved literary classic. Lewis’ timeless adventure follows the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings – Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter – in World War II England who enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of ‘hide-and-seek’ in the rural country home of an elderly professor. Once there, the children discover a charming, peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants that has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Under the guidance of a nobel and mystical ruler, the lion Aslan, the children fight to overcome the White Witch’s powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from Jadis’ icy spell forever.
Conclusion: OK, I can see this being a Christmas classic running for years and years along side the classics such as Sinbad, and The Towering Inferno. It’s a very great movie, the story (a classic) has a true champion in this movie. Acting is great, and characters are all believable. After this movie, you’ll believe a Beaver can talk!!
Sutton Life
Just for a change, rather than a Starbucks I thought I’d have a BK Whopper, and Kong it up..
Bluewater
Almost finished walking around, seen the culture, seen Santa (not personally) and now it’s time for lunch..
Harry Potter, finally – but was it worth it?
Synopsis: Harry must contend with being mysteriously selected to compete in the prestigious Triwizard Tournament, a thrilling competition that pits him against older and more experienced students from Hogwarts and two rival wizarding schools.
Meanwhile, supporters of Harry’s nemesis, the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), send a shockwave of fear throughout the wizard community when their Dark Mark scorches the sky at the Quidditch World Cup, signaling Voldemort’s return to power.
Conclusion: Well another HP movie, the treo go on again, but this time it’s not so rosie. We find new characters in the film, from across the world – although enjoy them while you can they’re unlikely to be seen again! The story is good, but I’m not sure if it warrents a 3hr movie, I felt it had a little bit too much "padding" in there. The CGI is great, difficult to tell the difference between live and CGI. For die hard HP fans go see it, me? I’m not enjoying them as much as I did — DVD’s are the answer for me maybe?
