Jeez what an afternoon most of the time was taken – waiting!
Waiting at the post office to pay in a couple of cheques.
Waiting at Costa’s for the coffee to be made (yawn)..
Waiting while my debit card is eaten by an ATM! Yes, I kid not, in the middle of a transaction to get 30 quid and the ATM crashes (see pictures).. It was running OS/2 Warp (from IBM). after WAITING for it to reboot which took about 5 minutes it refused to even acknowledge it still had my card.
I called my bank (different to ATM owner), and they said that the 30 quid transaction had occurred even though I had my card with held, and didn’t get the money!
They reassured me and said these things happen and banks are quite to refund these transaction errors – should have it back by Wednesday. They also suggested that the card be disabled just in case – I now need to wait for a new one to be delivered (about a week).
To further spoil the long weekend I think I have caught Babs cold/chesty cough after sitting next to him at lunch yesterday.
My overall coffee chilling experience has been bad – although outside I’m surrounded by smokers and it’s not enjoyable. In Costa they seem to have a coffee grinder from hell – completely masking my Morcheeba moment!
I’m hoping the Monday will be valued compensation.
Oh! also planning to see "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" sometime over the weekend so I’ll let you know what it’s like..
